Charles and I hate caviar. HATE it!! But I love the look of a red caviar canape. It is just beautiful to me. Isn't it?
That is NOT salmon roe, red caviar. Actually it isn't fish roe at all. This is called tomato caviar.
Tomato seeds are suspended in a gel that, when scooped out in a spoon, resemble caviar. On a Triscuit with dill sour cream, it resembles caviar even more.
When I first told the brother about this he kinda looked at me like I had lost my mind. I fixed a few to taste. They were a hit.
