Memas sour cream pound cake

A southern favorite, sour cream pound cake is always a hit. My Memas was must at family dinners.  

Simple to make from scratch it is close to the brothers heart.  This a lemon version.  

Sour Cream Pound Cake

2 sticks butter, softened
3 cups sugar
1 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp baking soda
3 cups all purpose flour
6 large eggs 
1 tsp vanilla (or flavoring of your choice)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Prepare 10 inch tube pan. Heavily grease & flour

cream butter and sugar
add sour cream and incorporate
in a second bowl shift flour and baking soda
break all eggs and vanilla into 2 cup measuring cup without mixing
add flour and eggs alternating to creamed butter/sugar 
mix well after each addition

Once mixed well pour into tube pan.  Smooth out top. 
Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes.
cool 10 minutes in pan.
Remove from pan, cool completely
