Sweet neighbor!

We have the sweetest neighbors! They are from South America.  I swear she spends as much feeding us as she does feeding her family!

This week is pedicted to very wet. She knows that rain makes moving very painful for me. This kind woman brought over a whole mountain of her favorite dish. Enough so i would not have to cook for days!

The construction reminds me of a huge tamale.  These however they have a richer flavor.  Oh!  I wish I could remember what she called it!  

Wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. All the meats, beef, pork and chicken, are tender.  The masa encasing them adds a lovely corn richness.  I'm reminded of a corn spoon bread my dad used to make.   So good!
