Primates

If I ask if there are any venomous primates what would you say?  If your like me your answer would be ‘Of course not!’.  We would all be wrong.  There is one.

The loris, has a very toxic bite. It can be fatal to humans.  I had no idea that mammals could be venomous.  I know some fish, reptiles and bugs are deadly. I would have bet the farm primates and mammals in general posed no venomous danger.

The slow loris is not only venomous their bite can be deadly to humans. Really? That adorable little furry monkey.  Some uninformed people are sneaking them into US.  They are being sold as pets.  Not a good idea!

Good to know.  I’m not likely to run into any slow Lorises.  Still good to know!
